Who can apply
The applicant must be a:
- an individual
- a registered partnership
- a company
- a trustee acting on behalf of a trust
You cannot apply for, or hold, a licence using a business name or trading name.
If you plan to operate at more than one site each site must be licensed separately with Safe Food Victoria or if two separate businesses operate from the same premises, each may be required to hold a licence.
Apply for a dairy licence
Different licence types apply if you farm, transport, distribute or manufacture dairy products.
Application requirements vary depending on your business type.
Apply for a meat or poultry licence
For facility licences, the applicant must nominate an operator. The operator handles the operations of the facility.
- If the applicant is a company, the operator must be an officer of the company.
- If the applicant is a partnership, the operator must be a partner.
If the applicant is a person, the operator must be that person.
Apply for a seafood licence
For businesses that grow, harvest, handle, process and wholesale seafood can apply for a licence and pay the required fees through the licensee portal.
