Fees and charges

For licence applications, annual licences and other charges

Safe Food Victoria licence fees

Fees apply when you submit a new licence application or renew an existing licence. We do not charge a fee to change an existing licence.

  • New licences require an application fee
  • Once approved, an annual licence fee applies.
  • Ongoing annual fees apply when you renew your licence

Fees are set for the current financial year. Fee units are updated each year by the Department of Treasury and Finance.

Dairy licence fees

A $211.30 application fee applies to all dairy licences.

If we approve your application, we will issue an invoice for the annual licence fee.

For all dairy licence types other than dairy farmers, we calculate the annual licence fee on a pro rata basis from the date of approval.

Meat and poultry licence fees

Licence fees vary by licence type.

Some licence types are subject to additional conditions, such as fee caps or non‑pro‑rata arrangements. These are noted under the relevant licence category below.
