Who this licence suits?
What you can do
A retail butcher shop licence lets you sell and prepare meat for customers from a shop. With this licence, you can:
- Sell meat directly to customers from your shop
- Sell meat wholesale, up to 50 tonnes per year
- Prepare, process and store meat, as long as it is mainly for retail sale
What you cannot do
You cannot:
- slaughter animals (get an abattoir licence).
- slaughter poultry (get a poultry processing facility licence).
- wholesale more than 50 tonnes of meat each year (get a further meat processing facility licence).
- sell pet food (get a pet food establishment licence).
- transport meat or seafood (get a meat transport vehicle licence).
